CE: 20 Contact Hours must be completed each 2 year renewal period.

The licensure period shall be construed as July 1st through June 30th with all regular licenses expiring at Midnight on June 30th of even-numbered years. (e.g., June 30th, 2012).

CE for Specialty: Dietetics/Nutrition Continuing education required:   

Regular Licenses: 30 hours                

Provisional Licenses: 15 hours

The licensure term for regular licenses shall be construed as April 1 of even numbered years through March 31 of odd numbered years.  The licensure term for provisional licenses shall be construed as April 1 through March 31.  Continuing education must be approved by the board.

Occupational Therapy

CE Requirements:

Mississippi regulations set the requirement of 20 contact hours (CH) or 2 Continuing Education Unit (CEU) to be accrued during the licensure period. No carryover of continuing education hours from one licensure period to another shall be allowed. At least 30 percent (6 Contact Hours or .6 CEU) of the required continuing education must be directly related to the clinical practice of occupational therapy. The six (6) contact hours related to clinical practice shall be live face-to-face training i.e., no internet training, video training, television training, etc. Of the remaining required 14 hours of training, 50 percent or 7 hours may be non live face-to-face training. Non live training may include home study courses, video, internet, etc. All training shall be from approved sources.

Pharmacy

10 hours of continuing education must be completed by December 31 of each year. Home study must be approved by the board.

ACPE-approved courses for Pharmacy Technicians end in the letter “T”. ACPE-approved courses pharmacists (only) end in the letter “P”.  Courses ending in the letter “P” cannot be used to meet pharmacy technician CE requirements.

Physical Therapy

CE Requirements:

Regulations set the requirement of 24 contact hours (CH) or 2.4 Continuing Education Units (CEU) to be accrued during the licensing period (July 1- June 30). No carryover of continuing education hours from one licensure period to another shall be allowed. At least 25 percent (6 Contact Hours or .6 CEUs) of the required continuing education must be directly related to the clinical practice of physical therapy. Effective July 1, 2012, physical therapist and physical therapist assistants can take no more than 12 contact hours or 1.2 CEUs of required continuing education online. All licensees must take two hours of board-approved programs in ethics/professional responsibility as part of their total CE requirements. CE hours claimed as clinical may need to be reviewed if considered questionable.

Psychology

20 hours of continuing education must be completed every renewal period. All licensees must complete a minimum of 2 hours in ethics or legal issues.

Licenses must be renewed biennially. The deadline for renewal is June 30th of odd numbered years.

Radiology Technology

CE per license:

Radiologist Assistant – 24 hours

Radiography – 24 hours

Nuclear Medicine – 24 hours

Radiation Therapy – 24 hours

CE courses must be approved by the ARRT.

Renewal Periods:

• Radiologist Assistant – One-year term; ARRT exam; licensed through the Mississippi Medical Board.

• Radiography (X-ray Operator) – Two-year term; ARRT exam; licensed through the Dept. of Health.

• Nuclear Medicine – Two-year term; ARRT or NMTCB exam; licensed through the Dept. of Health.

• Radiation Therapy – Two-year term; ARRT exam; licensed through the Dept. of Health

Respiratory Therapy

20 hours of continuing education are due biennially on September 1st through August 31st.
CE for Specialty:

Social Work

Renewal: forty (40) hours social work continuing education. Four (4) hours of approved professional ethics. Two (2) hours of cultural diversity/multicultural issues/cultural competency. Twenty (20) hours of home study permitted.

Ten continuing education hours may be carried over from one renewal to the next. The continuing education hours must have been obtained within the six months immediately prior to the current renewal date.

LSW Start Date: August 1st   End Date: September 30th

LMSW Start Date: March 1st  End Date: April 30th

LCSW Start Date: March 1st  End Date: April 30th
