CE for Specialty: Athletic Training | 60 hours of board-approved continuing education must be completed every 3 years. |
CE for Specialty: Audiology/SLP | CE: 30 Contact Hours must be completed each 2 year renewal period. A minimum of 20 Contact Hours must be directly related to your area of licensure. 10 Contact Hours of continuing education may be in areas generally related to your area of licensure. CE reporting period is the two-year period beginning with the effective date of your current license and ending on your license expiration date. If you are renewing as both a Minnesota Speech-Language Pathologist and an Audiologist, you must attest to and document completion of a minimum of 36 Contact Hours of continuing education within your CE reporting period. A minimum of 15 Contact Hours must be received in the area of Speech-Language Pathology and a minimum of 15 Contact Hours must be received in the area of audiology. 6 Contact Hours of continuing education may be in areas generally related to your area of licensure. |
CE for Specialty: Dietetics/Nutrition | The number of CE credits you need is pro-rated depending upon the date you initially became licensed. CE for Specialty: Medicine and Surgery | CE: 75 Hours of continuing medical education (CME) category 1 credits must be completed every three years as a condition of licensure renewal. The Board accepts (re)certification or current Maintenance of Competency issued by ABMS, RCPSC or AOA in lieu of CME. Newly licensed physicians commence their three year cycle on their birth month following the initial date of licensure. Physicians under Emeritus registration and licensees in full-time residency or fellowship training at a professionally accredited facility are exempt from the continuing medical education requirement. Each licensed physician assistant must obtain 50 contact hours of Category 1 continuing education every two years or meet standards through current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certifications as a condition of licensure renewal. Licenses must be renewed every three years for Physicians and renewed every two years for Physician Assistants. |
CE for Specialty: Occupational Therapy | CE Requirements: Occupational Therapists (OT) are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education every 2 years. Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) are required to complete 18 hours of continuing education every 2 years. |
CE for Specialty: Pharmacy | 30 hours of continuing education must be completed by September 30 of even numbered years. Home study must be approved by the board. ACPE-approved courses for Pharmacy Technicians end in the letter “T”. ACPE-approved courses pharmacists (only) end in the letter “P”. Courses ending in the letter “P” cannot be used to meet pharmacy technician CE requirements. |
CE for Specialty: Pharmacy Technician | 20 hours of continuing education must be completed biennially. Deadline for renewal is July 31st of odd numbered years. (i.e.: 2015; 2017). |
CE for Specialty: Physical Therapy | CE Requirements: Each licensed physical therapist and physical therapist assistant must complete at least 20 contact hours of continuing education credit every two years as a condition of licensure renewal. Newly licensed physical therapists and physical therapist assistants commence their two year cycle on January 1 immediately following the date licensure was granted, and continuing education credits may be accrued during the first partial year in addition to the two full years of licensure. Licensees are asked to attest to completion of continuing education by reporting to the Board at renewal time. Each licensee must retain continuing education documentation in the event they are selected for an audit. |
CE for Specialty: Psychology | 40 hours of continuing education or required every renewal period. Licenses must be renewed biennially. At least one month before the renewal date, a renewal notice identifying the renewal date and the amount of the current nonrefundable renewal fee shall be provided to each licensee. |
CE for Specialty: Radiology Technology | CE per license: Radiologist Assistant – 50 hours Radiography – 24 hours Fusion Imaging – 24 hours for the nuclear medicine portion. CE Course Requirements: • Radiologist Assistant – Must be ARRT registered and have a signed agreement with supervising radiologist. • Radiography (X-ray Operator) – No renewal required; State, ARRT or ACRRT exam; reciprocal if original state’s standards are equivalent. • Fusion Imaging – No renewal required; specific credentialing requirements for fusion imaging of ARRT or NMTCB to operate the stand-alone nuclear medicine unit or to operate in the dual mode if the operator has training in CT. • LXMO – Must pass national recognized examination administered by the ARRT. Renewal happens every two years. |
CE for Specialty: Respiratory Therapy | 24 hours (12 per year) of continuing education are due every two years. Each licensed respiratory therapist must complete at least 24 contact hours of Board-approved continuing education every two years as a condition of licensure renewal. Newly licensed respiratory therapists commence their two year cycle on July 1 immediately following the date licensure was granted. (Licensure must be renewed annually before July 1 of each year.) |
CE for Specialty: Social Work | Renewal: forty (40) hours social work continuing education must be completed every two (2) years from date of issue. Two (2) hours in ethics, to be documented at the first, full two-year renewal term that occurs after August 1, 2011. LICSW licensees must document at least twenty-four (24) of the forty (40) CE hours in clinical content. Fifteen (15) hours of home study are permitted. |
