CE for Specialty: Athletic Training | 80 hours of continuing education must be completed every 3 years. All renewable licenses to practice as an athletic trainer shall be issued for a period of not less than 1 year or more than 5 years. All licenses shall expire on the expiration date printed on the face of the certificate and shall become invalid after that date unless renewed. |
CE for Specialty: Audiology/SLP | CE: 10 Contact Hours must be completed annually. A maximum of 5 hours may be carried forward. |
CE for Specialty: Dietetics/Nutrition | There is no continuing education requirement. |

CE for Specialty: Medicine and Surgery | CE: 40 Contact Hours are required by those practicing Medicine and Surgery, Osteopathic Medicine or Surgery to be completed every two years. Physicians Assistants are required to complete 100 hours of CME every two years. Licenses must be renewed every other year and prior to renewal of each license as set forth by the expiration date on the face of the certificate. |
CE for Specialty: Occupational Therapy | CE Requirements: Occupational Therapists (OT) are required to complete 2 CEU hours/2 PDU hours of professional development units every 2 years. Occupational Therapists (OTA) are required to complete 2 CEU hours/2 PDU hours of professional development units every 2 years. |
CE for Specialty: Pharmacy | 15 hours of pharmacy continuing education must be completed annually. At a minimum, 8 hours will be all or a combination of American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) or Continuing Medical Education (CME) approved programs. 1 hour must be Board of Pharmacy approved jurisprudence (pharmacy law) programs. A maximum of 6 hours may be non-ACPE approved programs. Home study is permitted. 3 live hours are required. ACPE-approved courses for Pharmacy Technicians end in the letter “T”. ACPE-approved courses pharmacists (only) end in the letter “P”. Courses ending in the letter “P” cannot be used to meet pharmacy technician CE requirements. |
CE for Specialty: Pharmacy Technician | No continuing education is required. However, CE is required to maintain national certification. |
CE for Specialty: Physical Therapy | CE Requirements: The annual completion of 16 hours of continuing education (CE) is required to maintain a license to practice physical therapy in Idaho. The guidelines for acceptable CE credits can be found in the rules governing Physical Therapy. Excess Hours: Continuing education hours accumulated during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the license expiration date may be applied toward meeting the continuing education requirement for the next license renewal. Hours in excess of the required hours may be carried forward. Excess hours may be used only during the next renewal period and may not be carried forward more than one (1) time. |
CE for Specialty: Psychology | 20 hours of continuing education must be completed every renewal period. All licensees must complete a minimum of 4 hours in ethics, standards of care, and/ or review of laws pertaining to the practice of psychology every 3 years. Licenses must be renewed annually. |
CE for Specialty: Radiology Technology | No CE requirements. |
CE for Specialty: Respiratory Therapy | 12 hours of continuing education are due annually before July 1st. Correspondence or Respiratory Therapy journal home study courses approved by the AARC. CE documentation must be submitted to and accepted by the AARC. |
CE for Specialty: Social Work | Renewal: the completion of a minimum of twenty (20) continuing education (CE) hours, including a minimum of (1) one hour of training in professional ethics, is required annually to renew each licensure level.All contact hours can be home study. Licensees shall not be required to comply with this requirement during the first year in which they become licensed under the social work act. |
