In this online CME self-learning program:

Primary immunodeficiency disease (PID or PIDD) is a group of conditions encompassing more than 300 different genetic immune deficiencies. The heterogeneous etiology of PID leads to a vast array of clinical presentations, including infection, malignancy, autoimmunity, and inflammation.Once thought to be exceedingly rare, PID is increasingly being recognized as an underdiagnosed disease affecting approximately 6 million people worldwide – and about 1 in 1,200 people in the US.

  1. List early signs and symptoms of primary immunodeficiency (PID), and employ appropriate diagnostic techniques to identify patients with PID
  2. Describe appropriate treatment regimens for PID, including the use of Ig replacement therapy and antibiotic prophylaxis when appropriate, and apply them to patient cases
  3. Describe the various options for Ig replacement therapy and implement routine monitoring procedures to ensure effectiveness
  4. <liIndividualize treatment plans with a focus on patient- and disease-related factors unique to PID
