Program Summary
The demographic trends are clear. The medical professions in the U.S. will be managing increasing numbers of Hispanic patients, while minority patients experience poorer health status (Barrow, 2010). Understanding the reasons for this will help healthcare providers improve health trends for Hispanic populations in the United States. This course for healthcare professionals provides information on how to manage Latino patients safely and with dignity, improve their health and wellness outcomes, and ultimately help them assimilate into the U.S. healthcare system. This course outlines and defines specific healthcare priorities and deficiencies of first-generation Latin American immigrants through the recognition of signs of illiteracy and linguistic challenges. Also covered is human trafficking and ways to implement strategies to help protect patients. This is the first in a course series on Hispanic patient care.
Certificate of Completion will be available immediately on-line upon successful completion by the participant.
