This program presents a broad overview of the safety and stability of gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) that are approved for use in magnetic resonance imaging in the United States. This program for radiologic technologists explains the differences among specific GBCAs and how they affect image quality, and the safety and risk factors that affect the selection of contrast media for specific patients. This program includes guidelines from the American College of Radiology (as of June 2010) and from the Food and Drug Administration (as of October 2010).
