Debridement Training: Principles & Practice (CME)

This course offers practicing physicians, mid-level practitioners, nurses and other allied health professionals a comprehensive course in the art and science of wound debridement. Students will be introduced to traditional methods as well as cutting edge sharp debridement technologies.

This course is designed for physicians, fellows, mid-level practitioners, nurses and other allied health professionals dedicated to advanced wound care.

At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants will able to:

• Identify the Phases of wound healing and how to utilize appropriate debridement modalities
• Describe the anatomy and physiology of tissue layers and landmark structures in debridement
• Discuss the proper debridement preparation
• List the reasons to stop sharp debridement
• Explain the methods to stop bleeding
• Discuss the indications and contraindications for sharp debridement
• Identify the instruments and techniques used in sharp debridement and nursing implications
