CE for Specialty: Athletic Training | No continuing education is required. However, licenses expired annually on the individual anniversary date of licensure. |
CE for Specialty: Audiology/SLP | CE: 25 hours must be completed annually by February 29th. Dual licensees must complete 35 hours per year. A licensee whose initial license is issued during the first 6 months of the one-year license term described in Chapter 7, Section 1 of the board’s rules shall certify to completion of 5 hours of continuing professional education during the preceding license term at time of first renewal. A licensee whose initial license is issued during the second six months of the one-year license term need not complete any continuing professional education to be eligible for a first renewal. |
CE for Specialty: Dietetics/Nutrition | Dietitians must obtain 15 credits annually; a minimum of 4 credits must be obtained from category #1. Dietetic technicians must obtain 10 credits annually; a minimum of 4 credits must be obtained from category #1. Category #1 =The programs have a post-program measurement, in the form of a written evaluation, of the quality of the program, of the quality of the speakers and of the program’s success in meeting its prescribed learning goals; and the program must be at least 4 hours in length; and at least 15 people must be present at the program. CE for Specialty: Emergency Medical Services | Renewal of a service license must be obtained each year, not later than the twelfth month after the license is issued. If Maine EMS and the service agree, a license may be renewed in less than a year, and the licensing fee prorated in order to shift the service’s licensing anniversary. CE for Specialty: Medicine and Surgery | CE: 100 Credit Hours of CME must be completed every two years by each Physician and Physician Assistant licensed by this Board who is actively practicing medicine and surgery. The CME must include: at least 40 hours of Category I and no more than 60 hours of Category 2. Licenses must be renewed biennially. |
CE for Specialty: Occupational Therapy | CE Requirements: All permanent licenses expire on March 31 of odd-numbered years. The minimum requirement shall be evidence of thirty-six (36) contact hours of study (equivalent to 3.6 CEUs), which shall be completed for every license renewal. This continuing education shall be earned within the continuing education cycle. A. If the initial occupational therapy license is issued in the first year of the biennium (odd-numbered year), then eighteen (18) contact hours shall be required for that cycle. B. If the initial occupational therapy license is issued in the second year of the biennium (even-numbered year), then no contact hours shall be required for that cycle. |
CE for Specialty: Pharmacy | 15 hours of continuing education must be completed annually. 20 hours must be in board-approved courses on drug administration. Home study must be approved by the board. ACPE-approved courses for Pharmacy Technicians end in the letter “T”. ACPE-approved courses pharmacists (only) end in the letter “P”. Courses ending in the letter “P” cannot be used to meet pharmacy technician CE requirements. |

CE for Specialty: Psychology | 40 hours of continuing education must be completed every renewal period. All licensees must complete 3 hours of ethics. Licenses must be renewed biennially. The renewal period extends from May 1st of an even numbered year to April 30th of an odd numbered year. |
CE for Specialty: Radiology Technology | CE per license: Temporary Radiologic Technologist: 24 CEs Radiologic Technologist: 24 CEs Limited Radiographer: 24 CEs Special Permit Nuclear Medicine Trainee: 24 CEs OR valid ARST Registration CE must be related to the licensee’s profession. CE for Specialty: Social Work | Renewal: twenty-five (25) social work contact hours must be completed every two (2) years from date of issue. Four (4) contact hours must be completed in social work ethics. Maine State Law requires LSW Conditionals to complete six (6) contact hours of ethics and six (6) contact hours of psychosocial assessment for their first renewal. A maximum of ten (10) hours of home study is permitted |
