CE for Specialty: Athletic Training No continuing education is required.
CE for Specialty: Audiology/SLP CE: 20 Contact Hours must be completed over the two year renewal period. Each renewal period begins on October 1st of years ending in an odd number. (e.g., 2013)
CE for Specialty: Dietetics/Nutrition There is no continuing education requirement.
CE for Specialty: Emergency Medical Services Renewal is annual and must be completed during the birth month of the applicant. CE Requirements for EMTs                    EMT: None, refresher program only                            EMT-Intermediate: 23 hours Complete a minimum of twenty-three (23) credit hours of continuing education at intervals not to exceed twenty-four (24) months. Such twenty-three (23) hours shall include, but not be limited to, coursework in intravenous techniques and advanced airway management.  In order to receive credit in Connecticut, courses must be approved by each sponsoring hospital’s Clinical Coordinator and must be administered within the state by a state-approved instructor.
CE for Specialty: Laboratory Technology There are no Continuing Education requirements.
CE for Specialty: Massage Therapy CE: 24 Contact Hours must be completed every two years.
CE for Specialty: Medicine and Surgery CE: 50 Continuing Education Hours must be completed every 2 years. This includes at least one contact hour of training or education in each of the following topics: (A) Infectious diseases, including, but not limited to, acquired immune deficiency syndrome and human immunodeficiency virus, (B) risk management, (C) sexual assault, and (D) domestic violence for registration periods beginning on and after October 1, 2010, cultural competency. Qualifying continuing medical education activities include, but are not limited to, courses offered or approved by the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Medical Association, Connecticut Hospital Association, Connecticut State Medical Society, county medical societies or equivalent organizations in another jurisdiction, educational offerings sponsored by a hospital or other health care institution or courses offered by a regionally accredited academic institution or a state or local health department. Licenses must be renewed every two years.
CE for Specialty: Occupational Therapy CE Requirements: Occupational Therapists (OT) are required to complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years. Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) are required to complete 18 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years.
CE for Specialty: Pharmacy 15 hours pharmacy continuing education must be completed annually. One of the fifteen contact hours shall be on the subject matter of pharmacy law or drug law. ALL hours must be approved by the board. Home study is permitted. 5 live hours are required, in order to meet the live requirement, the course must be ACPE/CME accredited. ACPE-approved courses for Pharmacy Technicians end in the letter “T”. ACPE-approved courses pharmacists (only) end in the letter “P”.  Courses ending in the letter “P” cannot be used to meet pharmacy technician CE requirement.
CE for Specialty: Pharmacy Technician No continuing education is required. However, the pharmacist–in-charge should provide continuing in-service training to the technicians under his or her supervision.
CE for Specialty: Physical Therapy CE Requirements: Each licensee applying for license renewal  shall complete a minimum of 20 hours during the one year period for which the license is being renewed. Continuing education hours completed in one registration period shall not be allowed to carry-over to a subsequent registration period. No CE requirements for PTAs.
CE for Specialty: Psychology There are no continuing education requirements Licenses expire in the first birth month following issuance and are renewable annually thereafter.
CE for Specialty: Radiology Technology CE per license type: Radiographer: 24 hours of CE or maintain registration issued by the ARRT                                      Radiation Therapy Technologist: 24 hours of CE or maintain registration issued by the ARRT Such continuing education shall (1) be in an area of the licensee’s practice; and (2) reflect the professional needs of the licensee in order to meet the health care needs of the public. Renewal happens every two years.
CE for Specialty: Respiratory Therapy 6 hours of continuing education are due annually on October 1st.
CE for Specialty: Social Work Renewal: fifteen (15) hours of social work continuing education must be completed every year from date of issue. Six (6) continuing education hours can be home study. Within the registration period, an initial presentation by a licensee of an original paper, essay or formal lecture in social work to a recognized group of fellow professionals may account for five hours of continuing education hours. Continuing education shall consist of courses, workshops and conferences offered or approved by the Association of Social Work Boards, the National Association of Social Workers or a school or department of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education Boards or other nationally recognized organization that demonstrates to the department that their standards are substantially similar.
