Racial Bias in Healthcare?

  Aug 27th, 2015   -     News   -

In the Aug. 11th issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) an article entitled “Racial Bias in Health Care and Health Challenges and Opportunities” appeared. The article was co-authored by The Joint Commission’s medical director, Ronald Wyatt, MD, and David R. Williams, PhD. The article calls for “immediate action to address racial bias throughout the health care system.” At AltusLearn, we are curious what role you think racial bias plays within healthcare. We would like to hear your personal experiences and thoughts regarding the issue. We also welcome ideas on how to improve the system. Any responses received will be kept anonymous. With that said we are currently producing courses on cultural competency that will be available during the fourth quarter of 2015. This may not be a solution but it is a place where we at AltusLearn can contribute.
