CE for Specialty: Athletic Training No continuing education is required. Licenses must be renewed biennially.
CE for Specialty: Audiology/SLP CE: 20 Contact Hours must be completed each 2 year renewal period. Licenses expire on June 30th of even ending years. (e.g., June 30th 2012.)
CE for Specialty: Dietetics/Nutrition 20 hours of continuing education are due on or before September 1 of each odd-numbered year, the Department shall mail an application for renewal of license to every dietitian/nutritionist to whom a license has been issued or renewed for the period ending November 1 of the same year.  Continuing education must be approved by the board or CDR.
CE for Specialty: Emergency Medical Services Licenses must be renewed by December 31st of all even numbered years. (i.e.; 2014; 2016 etc.)
CE for Specialty: Laboratory Technology CE: 30 Contact Hours must be completed over a two year renewal period.
CE for Specialty: Massage Therapy There are no Continuing Education requirements. Licenses must be renewed annually on June 30th.
CE for Specialty: Medicine and Surgery CE: 40 Hours of CME courses must be completed every two years. This should include a minimum of two hours related to the following: universal precautions, infection control, modes of transmission, bioterrorism, OSHA, ethics, end-of-life education, palliative care, pain management, and other regulatory requirements. Licenses must be renewed every two years. Current law requires Physicians to renew their licenses on or before the first day of June in each even-numbered year. (2014, 2016, etc.)
Rhode Island CE for Specialty: Occupational Therapy CE Requirements: Occupational Therapists (OT) and Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) are required to complete 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
CE for Specialty: Pharmacy 15 hours of continuing education must be completed by July 1 annually. 5 live hours required. Home study must be approved by the ACPE, AMA or the board. ACPE-approved courses for Pharmacy Technicians end in the letter “T”. ACPE-approved courses pharmacists (only) end in the letter “P”.  Courses ending in the letter “P” cannot be used to meet pharmacy technician CE requirements.
Rhode Island CE for Specialty: Pharmacy Technician No continuing education is required.
CE for Specialty: Physical Therapy CE Requirements: PTs and PTAs must renew by March 31st of each even numbered year. 24 contact hours required biennially for PTs and PTAs. Required in-service hours totaling 0.4 CEUs maximum per biennium and CPR of 0.4 CEUs per biennium.
CE for Specialty: Psychology 24 hours of continuing education must be completed every renewal period. Licenses must be renewed biennially. The cycle for continuing education requirements begins on July 1st and runs through June 30th of even-numbered years. (i.e.; 20114-2016, 2016-2018 etc.)
CE for Specialty: Radiology Technology CE per license: Radiography- 24 hours Nuclear Medicine- 24 hours Radiation Therapy- 24 hours Limited- 24 hours 24 hours continuing education courses, clinics, lectures, training programs, seminars, or other programs related to the licensees specific license category of radiography, nuclear medicine technology or radiation therapy. At least 2 credits of continuing education must be specifically related to radiation protection. Furthermore, at least 12 credits of continuing education must be completed through a formal program. Any licensee who attests to current registration and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) at the time of license renewal shall be deemed to have met the continuing education requirements. Renewal happens on July 31st of odd years.
CE for Specialty: Respiratory Therapy 12 hours of continuing education are due August 1st every two years.   All CE can be obtained through home-study/self-study courses.
CE for Specialty: Social Work Renewal: thirty (30) hours social work continuing education must be completed by March 1 of odd-numbered years. Twenty-four (24) hours of the required thirty (30) hours of continuing education in a two- year period shall be contact hours. The remaining six (6) hours of continuing education may be non-contact hours. Three (3) hours of social work professional ethics and three (3) hours of cross-cultural practice to include the alleviation of oppression. A maximum of six (6) hours credit may be claimed during a renewal period for either the supervision of a master’s level social work student or for the supervision of a bachelor’s level social work student for a full academic year. All contact hours can be home study.
